It used to be really bad in the 80s. But it's rare now a days. You'll get the odd clash between rival fans and maybe a stabbing or two every once in a while, but it really is quite rare.
If you're looking for hoolaganism, Serie A in Italy is a better bet. Rome is known as "Stab city" in England because whenever English teams go over to play there, there is almost always multiple stabbings and major crowd problems. Juventus fans are also viciously racist and abusive towards black players.

American football players look big, fat, and bulky. Soccer/football players look very lean, cut, and chiseled.
Why is this?
different sport require different things. actually, football players are in better shape. if you play a full season of football, then you are something special. the average football player spends 2 years in playing in the nfl. plus, football players, even the fat ones can run. the minimum 40 is like 5 which is like a 11.5-12 100m. plus, the minimum bench is 225. also, if football players are fat, then why do i play? im 16, 6'2, 160 and run a 11.2 100m. soccer, you just need more endurance, but both sports require a great deal of tactics and field position awareness.

My son, who is 10, just started playing indoor soccer. He has no experience, so understandably, he is one of the weakest on the team. It's painful to watch him play, at times. One of his main weaknesses is that he has no power on his kicks. Are there any soccer coaches out there that can suggest some training exercises that we can do in the backyard or inside or at the local soccer field so in a year, he will be stronger with his shots? Help!

My program does not have advice on kicking the ball though. I thought the other answers were good. Here's some things to work on in addition to their advice.
1. Balance. Leg swings without kicking. Start off holding on to a wall. As he gets better do it without holding on to anything.
2. Kicking a stationary ball with only one step into the ball.
3. Same, but take a couple of steps (3 to 5) into the ball.
4. Same but do an easy run to the ball. Keep the ball stationary.
5. Now start to increase the speed of the approach.
When your son can do it well with both feet (or even not so well), have him to it with a moving ball that's slowly rolling. He can do it from different angles. As he gets better the speed of the ball should get faster.
He needs to learn how to kick the ball with the instep as well as the laces. He also needs to know how to pass with accuracy as well as shoot with power so you can mix these skills in as well. And be sure to practice with both legs.
It's better to practice for short periods of time more frequently. He probably will get frustrated so keeping your sessions short will prevent this. And doing them frequently will improve his learning speed. Good luck and have fun.
